“Âstepayiw” - becoming healed.
Made with 13/0 and 11/0 Charlotte cut beads. 24k gold plated accent beads, backed with fragrant smoked moose hide and gold fill earring hooks.
This pair is based a pendant I had designed last year, but I wanted to create a pair of earrings with it. It’s a flower growing and coming into view.
When you see finished beadwork, you don’t see the struggles to design it, the snapped thread, the beads we had to undo, the sore arms and shoulders, or sometimes the tears. We often only see a fully finished piece.
It’s the same thing with people. I’m more than what wounds me, but I carry unseen wounds with me too. I’m joyful and happy while also not being fully healed. Those things exist together.
You don’t have to be healed. This pair is simply for anyone who is in the process of becoming so. Even if it takes a lifetime. 🧡
