This is a pair that a lot of my heart went into. They’re called “Ayoskana” - raspberries. I didn’t use a template, I just loosely sketched an undefined outline because I didn’t want them to look identical.
My kookum had raspberry bushes and when we went to visit, she would give us blue cups and we would run out and pick them. Raspberries have always reminded of her.
We didn’t find out who her dad was until after she became an ancestor. I wonder if she spent her life feeling like a part of her was out of place or fragmented because of she didn’t have access to her whole family history. I beaded one bulb with pale blue on each raspberry to symbolize the piece of us that might feel fragmented, whatever that piece is.
Because honestly, that one part of ourselves that we struggle with is something we might actually discover is what adds to the depth of each of our stories. It’s what makes our lives multidimensional.
I hope whoever gets this pair gets the reminder they might need.
