Sakawew means “coming into view”.
When I made this piece it was originally meant to be two pairs of earrings - the teardrop was the top tear and the flower was the bottom. But it worked better to be worn as two separate pairs. As Sakawew means “to come into view”, it seems perfect that my original intention changed.
It reminds me of how much growing it took for me to get here - and how much growing I still have to do. It also reminds me I need to have that in mind when I meet others. Their full selves are probably still coming into view too.
